*breaks into another Egyptian happy dance*
Methinks a book deal four years in the making deserves a pretty epic celebration.
So here goes…
I wouldn’t have made it this far without this amazing writing community, (certainly not with most of my hair still intact) so I’ve tried to come up with three prizes to give back to this wonderful community of writers.
!! The Grand Prize !!
A brand-new Kindle
OR
$100 Amazon Gift Card!!!
(Yes, you read that right! Think of all those shiny new books you can download! Or buy!)
Prize #2: The Writer’s Package
– A 50 page critique from me (all genres except erotica, can be given to another writer)
– Plot and Structure by James Scott Bell
– A beautiful peacock feather writing notebook
– An evil eye amulet (straight from Istanbul!)
Prize #3: The Reader’s Package
– The Serpent’s Shadow by Rick Riordan (Because it’s Egyptian, of course)
– Tears of Pearl by Tasha Alexander (Because it’s set in Istanbul)
– A papyrus bookmark (From Egypt!)
– An evil eye amulet (From Istanbul!)

1. Yes, I ship internationally. (Two of my favorite writer buddies are Aussies, after all!)
2. You MUST include your email address in the comments.
3. Total up your entries (I despise math).
4. I’ll assume everyone is interested in the Grand Prize, but please tell me whether you’d like the Reader’s Package or Writer’s Package. Otherwise I’ll just guess. (And inevitably guess wrong).
5. Contest closes Friday, May 25th at 11:59PM EDT.
Whew! I think that’s everything, but feel free to ask questions in the comments. Good luck!
YAY! These prizes look awesome, and I'm liking the writer's package a lot! I follow you on your blog, Twitter, FB, and Pinterest (wow that sounds kind of creepy). I'm not good at math. I think that's +20? Who knows. CONGRATULATIONS!!!
You're amazing! What great prizes!!
I don't do FB or Pinterest, but I'll go tweet for you! š Here's my (really bad) poem about my favourite historical figure!
Leonardo is the guy
Iād like to meet & this is why:
A brilliant & creative man
I really am a giant fan š
I do believe that's 26 points! If I did win, I'd prefer the writer's package š Thanks for the chance, Stephanie!
Wow, what a prize package. Befitting of a fabulous book deal, no doubt!
Um, early for math, but I follow you here, on Twitter, I shall reluctantly Tweet about this (only adds more competition, but whatever), and I may think up a poem later. But for now, is that 13…or maybe 33, yes I believe it adds up to 33. š

One of my favorite people in history would have to be Louisa May Alcott. (+3)
A Servant, a teacher, a nurse,
but a writer at heart.
I wonder what advice to us,
she would impart?
Taught at home,
her were books penned by hand.
Now each of them are loved
by people across the land.

YAY!!!

I found you via Julie Dao and I'm glad I did š Let's see here, I followed your blog, your Twitter and your Pinterest. My fav person in history would have to be Amelia Earhart. Here's my go at a rhyme:
Who knows what happened to Amelia Earhart?
The braver of skies, the unknown and blue?
One day I'll find where she had gone, but until then I'm a seeker true.
(Really bad, I'm sorry)…
28 points total! I hope I win! Oh, and I'd like the writer's package.
Sorry, my email address is tianalei (@) gmail (.) com
I just read about your book deal! Congratulations! So happy for you. š
So, favorite person in history? That is a tall order. ONE of my favorites is Abraham Lincoln. I feel like he brought dignity to our country at a time we desperately needed it. Boy, we could use one of him right now. š
I follow you here (+5) and on twitter (+5), and did the comment above (+3). So happy for you!
Total: +13

Thanks for sharing the love!

I swear I wrote you a haiku for some other contest once before but here goes (+10):
The King of Athens
Undone by love, by the gods
How the mighty fall.
So that is 26 entries total!

Awesome! I love ancient Egypt! …I've got way too many books on my shelf, my favourite being, 'Daughters of Isis' by Joyce Tyldesley.
I'm a new follower, and I blogged about you, AND… well, check out the link… do I get bonus points for this?
I swear, it's MUCH better than a poem š

Favourite person in history: Pliny the Elder. I'd love to sit down and have a conversation with that guy…
Though clearly biased by Roman pride
Through his pen, knowledge thrived
History, philosophy, caesars deified
Vesuvius' eruption Pliny didn't survive.
Yeah, I suck at poetry :p
I count 21 votes, plus whatever I get for the image on my blog š

I'm actually not interested in the Grand Prize, but I'd love the Readers/Writers prizes equally š
Woo-hoo, it's party time!
I follow blog, Twitter, Pinterest, and will tweet.
I don't have a favorite person in history because I love too many. When I saw folks mention Abraham Lincoln and Shakespeare, I'm, 'yeah!' But I decided to pick a woman who was awesome for her incredible courage and determination: Harriet Tubman
Here's my haiku for Harriet.
keep to the trail, swift
through dark woods, no turning back
on this road to freedom.
That makes 31 points. and I would love, love, love the writer's package. email: sleuthwood (at) yahoo (dot) com
Congratulations on your book deal! That is fantastic. I wanted to be an Egyptologist when I was growing up. I still have time, right?! I understand the obsession!
I did not know about this book deal! Oh CONGRATS, CONGRATS STEPHANIE!A three book deal too! So well deserved. š
I'm all locked and loaded for twitter FB, Pinterest, and mentions!
Fav historical figure? Hmmm. Joan of Arc?
The great Joan of Arc
Kicked some Burgundian ass
Unfair Bar-be-que
36 points I think? You are awesome for hosting such a great giveaway. š
So happy for you! Enjoy the ride! And readers or writer's package looks great–it's a win-win!

Aaak! I guess it takes up to 2 months to get an invite to join Pinterest… or you can invite me… so… I have to deduct 5 points… š
Oh no oh no! I've been in the middle of moving and misread the deadline! I did most of the entries earlier already and even signed up for a pinterest account JUST for this contest (even though I'm anti-pinterest.)
Would it be possible please please please to still be counted for my efforts that I did already prior to the deadline? (you can verify with my friend requests etc.)
