My original plan for this post was to list every book I read last year, but there are 54 of them and I’m feeling lazy. Instead, I bring you STEPHANIE’S SUPER READS 2010! (Lame title, I know, but I’ve been playing Disney princesses with the four-year-old monkey for the past two hours. Brain=Mush).
My reading list used to be restricted to historical fiction with the occasional literary read, but last year I made a point to try new things. Change is good. Usually.
Now I present my favorite reads from all sorts of nifty genres!

Memoir: Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert
Biography: John Adams by David McCullough

Have you ever read any of Elizabeth Chadwick's historical fiction novels? My favorite read of 2010 was one of hers: The Scarlet Lion.
Hehe, my 3 year old is all about Disney princesses… she is on a Belle kick right now 🙂
Svea- I can't wait for Daughters of Rome to come out! I haven't read any of Elizabeth Chadwick's, but I'll check them out. My plan is to read 20+ historical novels this year!
And I'll take Belle over Sleeping Beauty any day!

Whoa– I didn't know there was a Daughters of Rome book coming, but I loved Mistress of Rome, also. And Gary's Pericles Commission was outside my usual box (kind of) since his novel was my FIRST EVER mystery.
I started keeping track of my books from last year, but somewhere around April/May/June I forgot to keep writing them down. oops! I guess I will have to try again this year 🙂
Outstanding group of books, Stephanie! I *still* haven't read Little Bee – but it's hovering near the top of my tbr list (hee, hee – unintentional pun). I try to read all genres, but my goal for 2011 is to hit up more mystery/thrillers. My favorite book of 2010 was The Book Thief.
I just read "Life as we Knew it" by Michelle Beth Pfeffer. Loved it!!
Those are great books! I'm trying to break out of the YA genre and mix things up a bit 😉

Probably the best thing I read last year was a literary fiction, Take One Candle Light a Room by Susan Straight.
Unbroken, by Laura Hillenbrand, the author of Seabiscuit.
The true story of an Olympic runner who fought in WW 2, survived the crash of his B24, spent 47 days on a makeshift raft in the ocean, only to be found by the Japanese and put into a horrendous POW camp where he became the focus of a sadistic guard determined to break him.
Wow, that was a run-on sentence for sure. But read the book. Really puts our own lives into focus when we see what some people have had to survive.
I don't genre jump as much as I should, probably, but I definitely concur, Lighting Thief is awesome!
I just read the Five Flavors of Dumb by Antony John. Loved it.
