“What fates impose, that men must needs abide; It boots not to resist both wind and tide.” -William Shakespeare
It’s hard to argue with Shakespeare. Like arguing with Socrates or Confucius. (Or my daughter.)
Do you ever feel like you’re resisting both wind and tide in the writing world? I’m resisting a hurricane and a tsunami over here. Feel free to grab an umbrella and join me. Or better yet, a drink with an umbrella.
Umbrella drinks are always nice.
I can relate to the hurricane and tsunami feeling and I'm not even a writer. An umbrella drink might just hit the spot.

Thoughts in Progress
Shakespeare puts things so well.
I'm trying out a mixture of stubbornness and going with the flow. Sometimes it works… and sometimes fate kicks me in the head.
Yes, toss in a tornado or two and that is where I am. But, alas, you are right. Everything happens for a reason.
I think I'm floating on a breeze…waiting for it to direct me where I need to go. The umbrella drink would help the ride go by faster.
Amen!
Ride the hurricane! Its so much more fun that way.
I always feel like I'm battling, because I write across genres. I even tried to go in with a drink and umbrella but it didn't work. I don't resist the wind and tide, but I do stay the course by writing what I feel, secure in the knowledge that eventually even the Fates will bring calm.
I am totally weathering that storm. It must stretch all the way from Alaska to Montana! Here's to some good, strong umbrella drinks!
P.S. I received a few awards recently, so you know what that means!! You'd better clear some space on your shelf, girlfriend!
Because I write about ancient history like you, Stephanie, I usually feel as if I am swimming against the tide. But ancient history is what I love.

I particulary love Dancing Queen…wrote a poem inspired by that title.
All in all an excellent list oh I do love Billy Joel.
