Pop the champagne and throw a shrimp on the barbie! I just finished the first draft of my WIP!
Wait, I don’t eat shrimp and I’d rather have a glass of wine. Whatever–all I know is that it’s DONE!
*breaks into an Egyptian Byzantine happy dance*
This one clocked in at roughly 101,000 words. I say roughly because I actually wrote the last half by hand and then typed it into Word (more on that later). I’m about 30 handwritten pages ahead of what’s in Word, but that’s my estimate. Not too shabby considering the first draft of Hatshepsut came in at about 120,000 words and had to be chopped.
Now I’m off to celebrate with homemade Rocky Road ice cream with the four-year-old monkey (who has already told me she’s happy to publish this book too).
Yay!
Congrats!
yay for you! It feels good, doesn't it? celebrate for a while and try not to think about all the work ahead : )
Stephanie- Thanks!
Stephanie- (I feel like I'm talking to myself). I'm actually excited to edit, but first I have to get the rest of the story into Word!
YAY! Congrats!
And a preemptive "good luck" with editing!
Yeah! Congrats!! What a great feeling.
Congrats and good luck.
Yvonne.
Huzzah! Can't wait to get to that point myself. 🙂
Whoop! Congrats! It's a great feeling, hope you are popping that bottle of bubbly. 😉
Most excellent!!
Congrats! That is such an amazing feeling. 🙂
Yay! I'm so excited for you. Homemade ice cream (and wine) sounds like an awesome way to celebrate, and how amazing that you already have a publisher. My 5 and 8 year olds have not made the same offer. But they're happy to read whatever is age appropriate.
Congrats!
Hooray for you, happy for you.
Congrats!!!
Congratulations!!!!
Sorry I haven't been around– I've been killing myself with writing too! I'm so proud of you! And also, your new blog layout is beautiful!
Congratulations! I can imagine how good that feels. Now – on to the re-writing. And the revising. And the rewriting….
Congratulations! I can only imagine the struggle it is to make it to the finish line. I don't even know how you managed to write so many pages hand-written. Have you talked to your agent about the 4 year-old publishing it? I think it would be a great marketing ploy!
Ava
Waaaahoo!!!! *throws confetti* That is HUGE news… congratulations! Hope you enjoyed that Rocky Road ice cream with your faithful little publisher 🙂
Enjoy the ice cream – you have EARNED it!!! I'm doing a happy dance for you – it's a great feeling to finish that draft!
Yay.. congratulations!!! Isn't it one of the best feelings in the whole world? 🙂
