In honor of the upcoming release of Gary Corby’s second book, The Ionia Sanction, I have not one, but TWO ARC’s to mail to two lucky winners!
I’ve read a few mysteries, but I love Gary’s books because they immerse me in Ancient Greece and they’re pretty darn hilarious too.
Case in point:
From the character list:
Thorion, Proxenos for Ephesus: He just hangs around.
I didn’t really get the full meaning (can you tell I don’t read many mysteries?) until I read the first sentences of the book:
I ran my finger along one foot of the corpse, then the other, making the body swing with a lazy, uncaring rhythm. I stared at his feet, my nose so close I went cross-eyed as the toes swung my way.
Thorion just hangs around because he was hanged. Ha!
How to Enter:
1. Leave a comment in this post WITH YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS.
2. Receive an extra entry for each Tweet, Facebook, or blog post mentioning the giveaway. (Just let me know how many entries in your comment).
3. Extra Entry! Nicolaus has this nifty rod and cord that can be used to send secret messages. For an extra entry, tell me what cool spy equipment you’d want if you were a private investigator. (I’d go for the shoe phone).
International readers are welcome to enter–I’m happy to send the books anywhere in the world. Contest closes 11:59PM Sunday, November 6th and the winners will be announced on Monday.
Good luck!
I haven't read the first of his books, but I've heard good things about it. Will have to check it out.

I'll tweet this too!
Cool! I'd love to enter a contest that involves you and Gary and his mysterious books.
Let's see..detective device. How about extendable ears? ๐

Sounds like a terrific story! ๐
As for a detective device, I've always thought having a camera in the sunglasses would be cool!
I loved the first in the series, so it would be great to own the second. If I were a sleuth, X-ray vision would be very useful.

I'd love an ARC of Gary's book. If I were a P.I., I'd want one of those super duper listening devices, you know….the ones for hearing whispered conversations through doors and from around corners.

Oh, another thing, my best friend gave me a hat with your headlining quote. I wear it all the time. Do I get extra credit for that? ๐
Can't wait to get my hands on the book! Thanks for the contest.
I don't know that this is the stealthiest of items, but my superspy self would totally want a grappling hook. I mean, you never know when you might need to stage an escape to the roof next door, and look awesome while doing it.
Plus a tweet and post from me!

Love to enter contests for books I know I'll like.

This sounds SO cool – love the "hanging around" joke. For a spy gadget, I'd like one of those pens that records audio/video. I could pretend to be writing at a cafe but really be spying on someone!
Momma always said, a comment was like a box of chocolatesโฆ I have no idea what the hell she meant by that!

Dang, sounds so cool:) Bit swamped with other reads at the moment, but I'll def check this book out sooner or later:)
Sorry I missed the awesome contest! I love the book cover and I love mysteries. So, I'll have to add it to my TBR list.
I can't believe I missed this!! ๐
