I spent 14 months writing, revising, and editing my last book, researching as I went along.
What am I doing now?
Nothing.
Well, not nothing, but no writing. No revising. No editing.
I’m researching.
It’s weird to finally be free of a daily word count, but I love it. I’m knee-deep in the history of an era I know virtually nothing about, and I plan to just go deeper.
Seriously, what’s better than the life of a writer?
So tell me, where are you this New Year’s Day? Researching, drafting, writing, revising?
Regardless of where you are, good luck in 2012!
Sometimes I'm writing, sometimes revising, sometimes just letting it all stew. Right now I'm on the last one, the stewing phase.
The researching is my favorite part of the whole process. I haven't been writing/editing lately and I need to get on top of things.
I'm hoping 2012 is a great year for you and your family. Good luck with the researching. Can't wait to see what era you are researching.
"…where are you this New Year's Day?"
Finally sending out my unpublished short stories to lit reviews, waiting for feedback from my novel readers, reading an unfinished book. I guess that was yesterday but today is no different; in other words, catching up.
Happy New Year.
I'm revising to start with, and waiting to hear back from Betas, and MOVING, so that is kind of taking up my writing time at the moment. But soon! Soon I will be back to writing — I've got a sequel that I want to get drafted and then I can dig into Heracles research.
Happy New Year 🙂
Exciting! Research can be so much fun as every new thing you learn spawns ideas and visions. Can't wait to hear more about it.
You know, being knee deep in research sounds absolutely delicious right now!
Enjoy!
Shelley
Research is so much fun! It's easy to get lost in it 🙂
I'm revising/editing a story that still needs a last chapter written 🙂
That's how I felt after NaNo ended. It was so weird not to sit down and pound out so many words (or any). Now I'm working at a slower pace, but I don't feel as productive. I have to finish the rewrite on a chapter book, then go back to revising a MG. Happy 2012!
I just finished a marathon writing session to get my latest novella done by Jan 1. I did. so yay. I'd love to take a break but I'm not allowed until summer. Then I get a whole 3 months.
Happy New Year.
So what is the new era you're researching? I'm dying to know. Is there a research trip in the future?
This month I am researching for one project and editing another. The research for this one might just kill me. Sigh. A break from writing can be so beneficial, though. Enjoy it!
Happy New Year Stephanie! Good luck with your researching 🙂
I am currently revising, revising, revising.
