Pssst…
I just finished the third Harry Potter book. For the first time.
Gasp!
I know, it’s like I’ve broken some sort of rule never having read the books until now. But I sort of enjoy breaking rules, so whatever.
I had an unofficial boycott of the books when they first came out–I was beyond sick of hearing of Quiddich and Hogwarts from family members. Then I decided to wait to read them for the first time with my daughter.
We made it through the first two books. She liked them, but I could tell her attention waned toward the end of the second one. And really, she’s only four so she has plenty of time to grow into the series.
But I wanted to know what was going to happen to Harry. Well done, J.K. Rowling! I have a pile of books taller than me begging to be read, and Harry Potter floated to the top. I’m thoroughly enjoying the writing, but I’m really just enjoying being immersed in Harry’s world.
(It’s also giving me an excuse to avoid long hours of editing. Shhh! Don’t tell anyone!)
Good for you! I finally had to give up on the boycott as well and give them a go. The third book was absolutely my favorite. Though I was sorta disappointed with the last. But you're right, the world Rowling created is wonderful, unforgettable.
Hope you enjoy the rest of the series!
I have never read aHarry Potter book or seen a film, but I suppose I will get around to it one day.
Enjoyed your post.
Yvonne.
Loved the first two. Book three is my favorite. Four was okay. AFter that I kind of had to force myself to finish the series, but don't tell anyone. They'll send the goon squad after me.
LOL. It's about time!! 🙂
Yay! You've joined the club 🙂 Love this series!! 🙂
My guilty pleasure is listening to them as I fall asleep. I'm such a kid.
My husband and I really enjoyed the books, so we were thrilled when my son started reading them. He plans to start #4 soon, but in the meantime he discovered Percy Jackson, Jacob Wonderbar, and Jack Blank.
I got hooked on them when they first came out because my nephews were reading them. I borrowed their books for awhile until I bought my own set.
Yay! Don't worry, I was very late to the game too, but you're right, they're so addictive! Once I started, I just had to read through to the ending. I read all 7 over the course of two months 🙂
Ahhhh! I think the third book is one of my favorites. I love Sirius. I hope you enjoy them all 😀
