Mwahahahaha!
Full Revision #5 (or 6 or 7- I’ve lost count) on HATSHEPSUT is DONE! I’m not sure whether to burn the darn thing or frame it. I love it and I hate it. If I have to go through the manuscript one more time…
Oh, wait. I do.
*groans*
One. More. Full. Revision.
I can do it. I have to do it. And once I get an agent, and then an editor, I know I’ll have scads of revisions. But I want a break. I want to write. I’m taking a week or two off from Hat and then I’m back in the trenches.
Tomorrow I’ll return to our regularly scheduled programming (read: Finishing 20 Questions posts), but I wanted to celebrate and vent a little bit.
As you were, soldier.
Wow… I am suddenly glad that I am done (for the moment) with the edits on my first novel… though now I am doing the ones on my second while I write my third. Still un-agented though so I am sure I will have to do the whole thing over again… so all I have to say is good luck to you and I wish you luck!!!!! You can do it!
Congratulations on finishing revision 5 (or 6 or 7)!
Either way it's a good feeling to be done with them. I'm technically on revision 4 right now.
Awesome!
I've reseached Hatshepsut some since reading about your novel and that girl is super cool. I can't wait till you get that thing published because I seriously want to read it.
Emma- Thanks! I can't wait to have this one agent-ready. I know it's going to be worth it!
Matt- Nice! I really wish I'd kept track when I first started revising, but c'est la vie!
KatieGrrr- Yay! I'm glad you researched Hat. Isn't she absolutely awesome?
Good for you Stephanie! Those last few revision passes really do feel like work. I remember not even wanting to look at my manuscript. But hopefully it will pay off in the agent arena!
Burn it!! Just kidding. Seriously. I'm totally kidding. That wasn't even a cool thing to say. 😀 Revision can definitely be a drag, but totally worth it! Keep up the good work! (And don't burn it…)
YOU. CAN. DO. IT! We believe in you, Stephanie. 🙂
Congratulations!! I'm feeling the same way about my book right now too. I'm overhauling Chapter Two (even though I thought I had already revised it? but apparently not well enough?). I had to go to bed last night because I was SO ANNOYED by it that I was going to put my laptop through the window if I didn't. 🙂
Good job and keep it up. Editor Revisions are a bit easier, in my opinion, since they outline what exactly they want changed. All you need to do is make the changes, not find what needs to be changed. 🙂
The fact that you still love it is a good thing. I always get to the point where I just hate the damn thing.
Many congratulations on completing another milestone. I confess to harbouring envy in my heart.
Congrats!! Keep going. You're so close!
Congrats! I know that feeling is the absolute best in the world. Ride the high for a few days before diving back in.
Congrats on completing the revision! I know what you mean about the love/hate after a long slog. Hope your week or two "manuscript vacation" leaves you feeling refreshed and renewed.
Congrats on getting through your revisions. 🙂
You can do it. Don't forget to take a break when needed, you know, a movie, a chocolate sundae, a hot bath…anything to give you a little break before the last push. You go girl!
Daaaaaang. I've known the feeling… and had the same dread. I'm sure it's just WONDERFUL now though!
Congratulations! I'm ready to take a water break just thinking about seven revisions!
You deserve a break- enjoy.
As writers we write then read, re-read and edit our manuscript to glut then we give it to the world. A true labour of love. I'm very happy for you, to finish one's manuscript it is a feat accomplished. Be proud my dear you did what you set out to do.
Warm regards,
Simone
Wahoo! Finishing each round of edits is great! Taking a few days away from the novel is a good idea – gives a bit of perspective. Enjoy 🙂
Yay! You deserve a break! P.S. I love the Hatshepsut The Writing of a Novel pic. That hasn't always been there has it??
Congrats! I'm revising your poem right now. I hope to have it to you within the next couple of weeks.
Congratulations!
Yes, take a much-deserved break. You will feel like a new woman.
