Let it be known that I am forever using goofy history videos while teaching, usually to make my students laugh (but also, sneakily to teach them). My favorites are John Green’s Crash Course and Horrible Histories, but I just found this one from Historyteachers on Theodora.
It’s two minutes of your life, but if you want a down and dirty synopsis of Theodora’s life (complete with the 30,000 corpses after the Nika revolt), this is pretty darn awesome.
Also, just a side note…
It’s only nine days until The Secret History: A Novel of Empress Theodora hits the shelves!
That was fun! I haven't searched for videos of the social studies topics I teach very often – I'll have to try that! 🙂
That was a cool video.
So excited that Theodora is about to be released. Awesome.

Jemi–There are a bunch of great ones out there, but mostly for high school. And sometimes I find fun stuff that's not school appropriate, which is kind of lame!
Donna–Glad you liked it! And I really can't believe the release day is almost here!
That video was a riot. I imagine something like this would really make an impression on a high school student. Did anyone else think the actress playing Theodora looked like Deborah Messing?
Anyway, I'm pretty excited about your novel release! I'm signed up to get my copy that very day and wish you the very best fortune!
Renee–She did look like Debra Messing! (Who I think is fabulous!) Thanks so much for the well wishes–I couldn't have made it this far without my stupendous critique partner!
